The Fix - June 2026
Description
Roaster description: "This washed gesha microlot comes to us from a single farm located in the northeastern highlands of Peru. Cajamarca is a semi-dry, semi-cold, tropical region with very fertile soil situated high in the Andean mountains. It is an area ideally suited for cultivating high-quality specialty coffee.
This lot was grown by Jose Santos Rivera on his 3-hectare family farm Finca Vira Vira. Jose is a prominent local producer and community leader known for his passion for sports and social gatherings as well as his overarching philosophy of long-term sustainability.
Along with Gesha, Vira Vira is home to Bourbon, Caturra, Pache, and Typica varieties, as well as potatoes, yuca, and granadillas.
Coffee cherries are carefully hand-harvested when perfectly ripe, and sorted for quality. For this microlot, the cherries were allowed to ferment for 45 hours before being depulped and washed clean of mucilage. The coffee was then spread out to shade-dry for 12 days.
Roasted light, the cup is sweet, fruity, and delicately floral with notes of lavender Earl Grey, Gala apple, butterscotch, and Meyer lemon."
Personal notes
Hard to dial in, but the good cups were quite tasty.
